The Prediction of Isaiah Regarding Our Lives Today

Hundreds of years before Christ was born, Isaiah, a great prophet of Israel, said a time would come when God would come to earth as a man. He wrote about Jesus's mission in the Book of Isaiah, chapters 7, 9, 11, 13, and 53. He also wrote about the war against God which we see today.

The Psalms of David also make this prediction: "The kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and His anointed... Thou shalt dash them in pieces, like a potter's vessel..." (Psalm 2)

In David's time there were very few kings within hailing distance, and the idea that all the kings of the earth would arise, "take counsel together", and declare against God was absurd, impossible. The world was a mystery then, and the idea of earth as a unified force was unimaginable. The kings of the earth practiced unique and different religions, and couldn't even agree on the color of the sky. They had no communication system that would allow them to consult with each other even if they all could have agreed.

But today it's as easy as picking up a cell phone. Centuries of cultural and global interaction have homogenized us. Think about it, and how extraordinary our times are. Weapons can be launched silently, half a world away, that will incinerate whole cities in twenty minutes.

Isaiah is also predicting the second coming of the Messiah, when Christ finally overcomes all the powers of the earth. The kings and rulers of the earth turn out to be as feeble as clay pots, and are "dashed in pieces" by the hand of God,
